If a cat was born and raised in complete isolation from the world and then brought home to a family, it would still come running the first time it heard a can opener being used.

There is no bigger story this week than Hurricane Irene. I had my own experience with it last weekend as my daughter is in the Dominican. Fortunately, they were spared the full force of this powerful storm. I am sending prayers and best wishes to my fellow pet bloggers who are in the path of the hurricane. Here is a link to Life with Cats' post on resources for pet safety during the storm.

Sunday's Child August 21, 2011
It's almost that time of year again. Time to break out the coats and boots. My favourite thing about this video is the dad cracking up. Enjoy!
No Kill Success Story
I love these stories. This one appeared on Yahoo! today. Buddy, who had been frightened by a loud noise, jumped out a 3rd story window landing on concrete and broke both of his legs. The owner couldn't afford the medical costs so they surrendered the dog to the SPCA who could then fundraise to pay for the dog's surgeries, saving his life. Full story here.
The man in the photo was Buddy's foster dad during the recovery and is now officially his pet parent. Wonderful!

These are two of the dogs I walk. Tell me they aren't the cutest little faces you have ever seen. Molly is a 6 year old Shnoodle and Swayze is a 3 year old Shorkie. Both have great personalities and love to play with their humans and with each other. I have been walking them for almost a year. They are an absolute joy to visit with and to walk.
Cheers!

THE PET PRINCIPLE: No matter which side of the door the cat or dog is on, it's the wrong side.

There must be a secret ingredient in litter that beckons my cat to come and have a poop in it the very second I walk away from changing it. Nanny McFur
