Miss Kizz is relentless when she wants me to do something for her (and by that I mean give her something to put in her mouth). She is also an old and overweight cat so I try to remain in control so she doesn't overeat. Along with her younger brother she gets fresh dry food in the morning, a bit of canned food mid morning, a teeny top up of fresh food at three (I call this our coffee break), and a bit of dry food top up before bed. They also get fresh water every time. They don't need the top up of the dry food but they like to think they are getting something new so I put a few new ones on top.
Sunny doesn't like the canned food but Kizzie loves it and she has a hard time waiting for it. Some times she will begin pestering me an hour before I want to give it to her. She follows me all over the house meowing at me and I start to become annoyed. It usually goes like this "meow" "no" "meow, meow" "no" "meow, meow, meow" "Kizzie no!!" That usually settles it - or so I think.
After a while, I notice things have become really quiet so I go looking for her. Being the clever little thing she is, here is an example of what I will find:
With the perfect posture and facial expression she conveys "Oh hi Mom. I was just sitting over here out of the way and being quiet so I wouldn't bother you." Don't you just hate it when they do that? Be adorable on purpose in order to break you down? Don't be fooled. It is the same as the "meow, meow" just more cunning.
Does it work? Of course! Whose heart doesn't melt when their pet works on them with cuteness? Not me.
