A bear seen using a tool suddenly elevates his status as an intelligent animal. The story also includes other animals using tools.
My favourite is the crow. Not only can they use tools, they can perform a complex series. They can use a tool to open something with another tool inside that they use to get another tool that they use to get their reward. It is amazing to watch. It has also been proven that crows remember human faces and recognize those faces even years later.

I've seen crows who knew what traffic lights looked like and when they changed- the crows would drop nuts into the street, then wait patiently for the light to turn green, the cars would drive over the nuts, cracking them open. The crows waited for the light to turn red, went and ate the nuts, repeat process.
