On Friday I was seated on a bus across from a young woman and her guide dog. The buses in our town have a recorded system that calls out the upcoming stops. It was not running that day. The gorgeous yellow lab looked like he could barely keep his eyes open and I expected him to lay down and have a snooze but he didn't. After a long while, the dog suddenly sprang to his feet and he and his owner got off at the next stop. On her way off the bus, the young woman asked the bus driver why the system wasn't running. The bus driver apologized and explained it seemed to be broken and that she would have someone check it when she got back to the bus terminal. My question is how did the dog know their stop was coming up next? Remarkable!

Of all the elephants at the PAWS sanctuary, Nicholas is my favourite to watch. He just always seems to be so full of joy and contentment.
This video shows some of his first day there. It is so wonderful to see him instantly take to his new environment. He plays, trumpets and even scampers around a bit as he enjoys the water, grass and trees. Awesome to watch. He sure has grown too. He looks so little here compared to more recent videos. Enjoy.
When a judge ordered a bear named Ben to be removed from a road side zoo in North Carolina and sent to live at the PAWS Sanctuary he likened his former living conditions to a human being forced to live in a small closet.
After hearing the story, FedEx immediately agreed to fly Ben across the country for free. His safety and comfort were essential. He traveled in climate-controlled transport trucks to and from the airport and was accompanied by his transport team (PAWS' co-founder/director Ed Stewart, veterinarian Mel Richardson, and PETA attorney Carney Anne Chester) throughout the trip. The flight crew cheerfully dubbed their mission "Bear Force One." PAWS E-News

Cats sneeze from time-to-time but excessive sneezing can signal a health concern. I was surprised to learn that there could be a dental problem. An infection from an abscessed tooth for example could affect the nasal passage and cause sneezing.

I love this story! A cockatoo named Willy has been thrown into the middle of a court case after allegedly being trained by its owner to hurl obscenities at the owner's ex-husband and his new girlfriend.
For whatever reason the new couple is living right next door to the gentleman's ex-wife and the new girlfriend is claiming they are being bothered by listening to the bird repeat such things as "effing whore" and "effing slut".
After a $15 fine and a restraining order had been issued the matter still went to trial, which continues today. This is a piece of video evidence posted on YouTube by the plaintiff.
The ex-husband and his new girlfriend have decided to move. Hopefully they will move to a place that doesn't allow birds.

My oldest daughter announced that she has decided I am not allowed to move again. At this juncture I am inclined to agree with her.

A dog walking client of mine had this to say about the Thunder Shirt on her Facebook Page.
Thunder Shirt testimony: fireworks started and Molly lead me to her shirt and sat on the couch for me to tighten it. She is sleeping calmly on the floor beside me.
